Research on High Temperature Friction and Wear Properties of New Type Cr Hot Work Die Steel

The service life of die is closely related to its service performance. The service performance requirements of die steel materials are increasing. High quality, high efficiency, long life, and low failure are the general trend of the development of modern high-end mold equipment. The service temperature of hot work die steel can reach 500-700 ℃,and bear large mechanical load at the same time, wear failure has become one of its main failure forms. In this regard, the self-developed new type Cr3 hot work die steel 4Cr3Mo2V steel (hereinafter referred to as Cr3 steel) was explored, and the high-temperature friction and wear performance and high-temperature hardness of the steel were studied. The scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and optical profile device were used. Other instruments observed and analyzed material wear rate, worn surface and cross-sectional morphology, oxide types, etc., and compared them with DIEVAR (hereinafter referred to as Cr5 steel) conventional hot work die steel. The results show that, compared with the traditional hot work steel, the newly developed Cr3 hot work die steel has better high temperature friction and wear resistance and high temperature hardness.Fig. Data of test steel at different temperatures a)Wear rate b)Hardness curve
