Study on corrosion behavior and mechanism of SDCM tool steel for hot stamping

The corrosion behavior of hot stamping tool steel was studied by alternate immersion method. The results show that the corrosion mode was comprehensive corrosion, the applied stress level affects the corrosion, the corrosion rate increased with the increase of stress, the corrosion resistance of high hardness (54HRC) materials was lower than that of low hardness (50HRC), and this phenomenon is more obvious with the increase of stress. Different from the fact that the maximum corrosion pit depth of high hardness materials increases continuously with the increase of stress, the maximum corrosion pit depth of medium and low hardness materials was wavy under the influence of stress and hardness. The concept of corrosion density was put forward, the corrosion degree was comprehensively described together with corrosion rate and maximum corrosion pit depth.
